Appendix A: Schedule For Academic Standing and Fees Refund

I. For Full Time or Reduced Load Day Students Withdrawing From a Program:

Notification of withdrawal must be directed to the Registrar's Office in writing (by regular mail; by fax at (416) 491-9187; or in person) and within the published timelines in order to be eligible for appropriate academic standing and fees refund where applicable. Not attending class and/or notifying the professor of your intention to withdraw is not acceptable notification. Failure to officially withdraw will result in a "DNA" or "F" grade and will affect your grade point average.

RE: ACADEMIC STANDING

RE: FEES REFUND
In accordance with the policy of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities

  • Withdrawal from the College before the tenth day of scheduled classes will delete any reference in the student academic record.
  • Full tuition fees less the deposit (see Fee Policy) will be refunded.
  • Withdrawal from the College after the tenth day of scheduled classes and before the Final Withdrawal Date as published by the Registrar will result in the grade designation *** on the student academic record.
  • No tuition fees will be refunded.
  • Fees collected in advance for future semesters will be refunded.
  • Withdrawal from the College without written notification to the Registrar's Office by the Final Withdrawal Date or withdrawal after the Final Withdrawal Date will result in the appropriate grade designations of "DNA" or "F".
  • No tuition fees will be refunded.
  • Fees collected in advance for future semesters will be refunded.

II. For Part Time Students Withdrawing From a Subject:

You are responsible for all subjects in which you register; therefore, if you find it necessary to stop attending a subject you must notify the Registrar's Office in writing by e-mail (ptreg@senecac.on.ca), by fax (416-491-9187), or in-person at any of our four main campuses (Newnham, Markham, Seneca@York or King). You may not attend and/or participate in any further classes once you have withdrawn. Please quote the subject and Seneca student I.D. number on your withdrawal notification. Allow three weeks for any refund owing to you to be processed. If you have paid by credit card, the refund will be credited to your credit card; otherwise, you will receive a refund cheque from the college. Exceptions to this policy cannot be made for students who register late.

 

TIME OF WITHDRAWAL ACADEMIC STANDING FEE REFUND
Traditional Classroom Based Subject:
  1. Withdrawal before the start date.
Deletes any reference in the student academic record. Full fees less $25 administrative charge will be refunded.
  1. Withdrawal between the start date, and before
    the third scheduled class
    .

    For seminars, workshops and short duration subjects
    (with 7 or fewer scheduled classes) students must
    withdraw prior to the start date to qualify for a refund.
Deletes any reference in the student academic record. Full tuition fee less $25 administrative charge will be refunded.

No refund of any lab/material fees.

  1. Final withdrawal dates:

    For subjects with 7 or fewer classes: withdraw before the fifth class.

    For subjects with 12 or fewer classes: withdraw before the eighth class.

    For subjects with greater than 12 weeks: withdraw before the tenth class.

Results in a grade designation of "DNC" in the academic record (i.e. does not affect grade point average). No refund.
  1. Withdrawal without written notification or after the final withdrawal dates above.
Results in the appropriate grade designation of "DNA" or "F" (i.e. does affect grade point average). No refund.
 
TIME OF WITHDRAWAL ACADEMIC STANDING FEE REFUND
Distributed Learning (i.e. correspondence, online, blended) 10 weeks or longer
Important Notice: Withdrawal information for Distributed Learning Subjects with durations less than 10 weeks can be found at http://cdl.senecac.on.ca/withdrawal.
  1. Withdrawal before the 14th calendar day after the start date.

    **Applies only to subjects with durations of 10 weeks or longer.
Deletes any reference in the student academic record. Full fees less $25 administrative charge will be refunded.

Exception to above:
Material fees will only be refunded for correspondence subjects if the materials are returned in good condition at least two weeks before the start date.

  1. Final withdrawal dates: withdraw before the tenth week.

    **Applies only to subjects with durations of 10 weeks or longer.
Results in a grade designation of "DNC" in the academic record (i.e. does not affect grade point average). No refund.
  1. Withdrawal without written notification or after the tenth week following the start date.

    **Applies only to subjects with durations of 10 weeks or longer.
Results in the appropriate grade designation of "DNA" or "F" (i.e. does affect grade point average). No refund.
