| In partnership with the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University the opportunity is now available for Civil Technology graduates from Seneca College to complete a four-year Bachelor of Environmental Studies Degree in a two-year period.
Civil Engineering Technology (CVT) graduates and Civil Engineering Technician students who, after their first year, transfer to and complete the CVT program, with the necessary grade point average can combine their three years of study with two additional years at York University to obtain the four-year Degree in Environmental Studies specializing in Urban Sustainability. The Challenges Ahead! City living will be even more popular in the 21st century. It's estimated that within ten years over 60% of the world's population will reside in an urban centre. Their environmental impact on the entire earth's surface and resources will threaten its survival and ours. Building and maintaining these urban places will be a great environmental challenge. The world needs people with knowledge and skills to design a sustainable urban environment (c) people who recognize our impact on water, land, air and climate and who can develop appropriate solutions for their use, re-use and health. If you marvel at the city building ideas contained in popular computer simulation games, admire the heroes who work to improve our quality of life, and care about the future of our environment, there's a new program which offers a future of global challenge and career opportunity. The Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University and the Centre for the Built Environment at Seneca College have combined their academic resources to offer a joint program in Urban Sustainability. Students will obtain a four year university degree in Environmental Studies and a three year college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology which will require only five years of study. In the past, such a combination would have taken seven years to complete. You will develop major theoretical and critical skills along with the hands-on experience of a practical applied education as described in the respective programs of York University and Seneca College.
