Our Graduates -- Going Forward
"For all of us this is a true achievement.
Graduation in its most literal sense is a tabulation of the mandatory
course requirements, with a passing grade typed beside them on an
official transcript. But this does not begin to describe my college
experience, nor will it, for many of you. Instead, my college experience
has been marked by such things as sacrifice and hard work, backed
by solid relationships with my friends and family. In addition,
when I look back years from now, I hope that I can look beyond a
grade-point-average to see the hours put into a part-time job, the
time spent studying, and time spent away from family and friends
in order to reach my goal. Finally, my college experience is marked
by a constant look forward.
[Seneca] had the answer I had been looking for.
I think that each of us can relate to the idea of applying, sacrificing,
learning, pushing and straining for something better, but also for
something that we love."
